Earlier today, we received our first shipment of Blackstar amps! In this article, we'll feature a few of our favorite models.
The iD Core 100W is a stereo modelling amp that has virtually no tonal limitations. For starters, it includes 6 legendary Blackstar voices, 12 built-in effects, a 30 second looper, and can store up to 36 different sound presets. To create the presets, this amp includes Blackstar's INSIDER software. The software can be controlled via a mouse or even the amp itself to adjust and save parameters that deliver your favorite tones in a one-stop shop.
Blackstar's HT Studio 20H is the successor to the critically acclaimed HT-5. The head offers two outstanding channels - a clean and an overdrive. The clean channel has a volume knob and a tone knob in which you can further shape the EQ with the addition to the master 3-band EQ. The overdrive channel has a volume knob and a gain knob which gets you anywhere from slight blues overdrive to brutal metal riffage. As mentioned before, there is a 3-band EQ on the master section with an ISF control which changes the overall response. Fully counter-clockwise is more American with tighter lows and aggressive mids (great for metal), whereas fully clockwise is more British with a more open low and top end. There is also a speaker-emulated output for direct recording for an uncompromised tracking process. The cab itself is equipped with two Celestion speakers and the same vintage styling as the head. The speakers are voiced to function perfectly with the HT Venue Series guitar amps.
With all of the guitar products out there, it feels like bass players get a little neglected sometimes. Blackstar cares about bass players enough to make one of the best, if not the very best portable bass amp available. This beast of a 3-watt amp is packed with features like an overdrive, one-knob EQ, a built-in compressor, sub-harmonic generator for the extra low-end beef and a master volume output. It also is equipped with a line input from an mp3 player and even a headphone output so you can jump in and play along with your favorite tracks.
