Saffire PRO 26 is a fully comprehensive, studio quality 18 in/8 out, 24-bit/96kHz, Firewire/Thunderbolt compatible* audio interface providing four award-winning Focusrite microphone preamps, two TRS instrument inputs, two independently controlled headphone outputs, 5-segment LED input metering and a selection of rear panel analog and digital I/O options. If that isn't enough for you, they also bundled in tons of software, including Ableton Live Lite, the Scarlett and Midnight plugin suites, as well as the spectacular Bass Station Plugin. Awesome mic preamps, generous software bundle, what more can you ask for?
The classic Urei LA4 is one of my favorite vintage compressors. These units are colorful and warm sounding, and sound awesome on a wide variety of sources. I don't think I've ever walked into a studio that didn't have a pair of LA4's in the rack. That honestly says more about the LA4 than anything else. It's a studio staple.
The RC500 uses FET style compression, which is similar to what's found in the famous Urei 1176/1178 compression. FET compression gives you color like tube compression and punchiness like VCA compression all in one. It's rare to see a channel strip with FET compression built in. It's even rarer to see it at this price point. Add to that a superb mic preamp and EQ, and you have a special sounding channel strip.
