Gear News - Stanley Kubrick Microphone & More

This week we're breaking off the used gear into its own post because we have so much great used gear, and so many holiday deals to focus on, that one post just wasn't enough. Let's get to the used highlights for the week of November 14th, 2014!   s27826-6 USED - DBX 161 VU Vintage Compressor - $649.99 The DBX 161 is the twin of the DBX 160VU. We've A/B'd 160's vs 161's. and they sound identical. The big difference is that the 160 has balanced barrier strip input and output connectors, and the 161 uses unbalanced RCA connectors. They use the same circuit, same VCA's (the heart of a compressor) and they work and sound identical.     s27724-3 USED - Limited Edition Neumann TLM-103 Monolith Edition Commemorating Stanley Kubrick's Film 2001 Space Odyssey - VERY RARE - $949.99 This is the rare Limited Monolith Edition of the TLM-103 Microphone. This edition was made to celebrate the Monolith in '2001, a Space Odyssey' and only 2001 of these units were ever produced. The microphone has a glossy (shiny) black finish to it, but is otherwise a stock TLM-103 Microphone. It also comes with a special "black" wooden box. Given the limited production number of these microphones, and the popularity of the TLM-103, this mic will never lose its value.   s27719-5 USED - TC Electronic Finalizer 96K - $899.99 The Finalizer 96K's all new set of advanced features and enhancements, including 96kHz internal and external processing truly puts the world of professional mastering within reach of every studio - large or small. Inserted between the stereo output of your mixer or workstation and your master recording media, the Finalizer 96K dramatically enhances your material, creating that "radio ready" sound - previously unattainable outside a professional mastering house.   s27715-4 USED - DBX 576 Tube Channel Strip - $449.99 These are awesome tube channels, full of color, and they sound awesome. To top it off, this has the classic DBX overeasy compression found on the 160 line of compressors, and it does that compression perfectly when overeasy mode is engaged. The pictures in this listing are pictures of the item you will receive. Every part of these units sounds great. A lot of times on these channel in the box units you'll have one really good part and a couple not so great parts, but Mic Pre is awesome on these, the compressor is superb and versatile, and the EQ sounds great as well. These are no longer available from DBX, and they retailed at $1000.00.
